Mesa Valley Chronicles: Jim Benedict-Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Later that night, Jim woke up.  He didn’t know what had awakened him.  He went and checked on Richard.  He was sleeping soundly.

He went upstairs and stood outside Cillay’s door.  He could hear sobbing coming from the bathroom.  “Cillay, are you okay in there?,” he asked.  She didn’t answer.  She just kept sobbing.  “I’m coming in.,” he told her.  He turned the knob and pushed the door open.

Cillay was sitting on the floor sobbing as though her heart was breaking.  She was wearing just her bra and panties, and Jim could see large bruises on both sides of her body, as though someone had punched her over and over again.  His heart ached for her.

“Cillay,” he called to her again.  She still didn’t respond.  He gently pulled her from the floor and held her in his arms.  She continued to sob.  “Cillay, baby, please tell me what’s wrong.,” he pleaded with her.  Her sobs slowly subsided, and she tried to tell him how she felt.

“Jim, I feel like I’m poison.  I make everyone who comes into my life miserable.  I can’t do anything right.  I know I have to leave before I contaminate you and Richard, but I don’t want to leave you.”

“Why don’t you want to leave me, Cillay?,” he asked gently, holding his breath for the answer.

“I’ve fallen in love with you.,” she said.  “I don’t expect you to feel the same way about me.  I know that’s impossible, but this is the first time I’ve ever been in love.  I wanted you to know how I feel in case I never see you again.  I’m leaving in the morning.”, she said in a rush.

“No.,” Jim told her.
“What?”, she asked him.

“I said no.  You’re not leaving.  You’re staying here with me and Richard where you belong.,” he told her.  Then he pulled her back into his arms and gave her a long passionate kiss.
“I’ve wanted to do that ever since I first saw you.,” he told her.  “I’ve loved you since the first day I saw you asleep on that bench.”

She looked up at him.  Her eyes were sparkling with happiness.  “Do you know what I thought when I first saw you?”
“What?,” he asked curiously.
“I can’t believe that such a hot guy is talking to me!”, she told him.   They both laughed.

Jim gently touched the bruises on Cillay’s side. She recoiled in pain.  She suddenly realized what she was wearing, or rather not wearing.  She grabbed a towel to cover herself.  He gently took the towel from her hands.  He softly stroked her cheek, and then continued examining her bruises.

“Cillay, tomorrow, I’m taking you to the doctor.  Those bruises have got to be examined.  We need to make sure that you don’t have any internal damage.,” he told her.

“No Jim!,” she cried in a panic.  “They will have to file a police report, and everyone will know about what happened to me!”
“Sweetheart, calm down.,” Jim told her.  “I have a friend named Terrance Boggs.  He is a doctor at the hospital.  I will explain the situation to him and he will keep it confidential.  I promise you that it will be okay, but you have to be examined.”
“Alright.,” she agreed doubtfully.

“Let’s get you back to bed.,” he said, leading her back to her bedroom.
Cillay climbed into bed, and Jim pulled the covers up over her.  Then he kissed her goodnight and turned out the light. He went back downstairs to his bedroom with a happy smile on his face.

Cillay woke up again at about 4:00 in the morning.  She was overcome by a feeling of dread.  She was suddenly very frightened.

She climbed out of bed and went to the nursery to check on Richard.  He was still sleeping.  She was afraid to return to her room upstairs.
She went to the master bedroom and Jim was sleeping soundly.  She quietly climbed into bed with him and was able to go back to sleep.

When Jim awoke the next morning, Cillay was snuggled up next to him in bed.  He put his arms around her and gazed lovingly at her sleeping face.  He knew that every morning for the rest of his life, he wanted to see her beautiful, kind face.

Cillay stirred and opened her eyes to see Jim smiling at her with love in his eyes.  She smiled at him.  Jim moved his face closer to hers and gently kissed her eyes, her nose ,her cheek, and then with greater passion, he brought his lips to hers.  Then they both heard the sound of Richard crying on the baby moniter.
“I’ll go.,” Cillay told Jim and got out of bed and went to check on Richard.  She took him from his crib and snuggled him close.

“Are you hungry, sweetpea?”, she asked him.  She took him to the kitchen and warmed a bottle for him.  He took the bottle and drank it hungrily.

Jim continued to lay in bed after Cillay had gone.  He thought about how quickly his life had changed within the last few days.

Although it was fast, he knew for sure that Cillay was the one for him.  The love he felt for Cillay was unlike anything he had felt for any other woman.  He knew that with time it would only grow stronger.  He wanted to marry her as soon as possible.  However, he did not want to rush her.

He wondered what to do about Tony.  She wouldn’t be happy with the threat of him hanging over their lives.  Jim would worry about Cillay’s safety until that situation was resolved.

He decided to consult with a lawyer and find out what their options were.  If necessary, it would give him great pleasure and satisfaction to find Tony and beat the heck out of him.  He would love to personally make Tony pay for all the pain and suffering his cruel treatment had brought Cillay.

Jim got up and called Terrance.  He explained the situation.
‘So, we would really appreciate it if you could keep this confidential.,” he told Terrance.

“This girl must be really special to you if you’re going to all this trouble for her.”, Terrance told Jim.

“She’s the girl I’m going to marry.,” he told Terrance.  “She doesn’t know it yet though.”

‘Alright.  Of course I’ll help her.  Bring her to my office at 10:00.”, he instructed Jim.

  1. Glad they finally confessed how they feel, but I’m with Jim, Tony will always be a threat, they need to do something fast!

    • As you can tell from the funny bruises, I am still trying to learn how to edit pictures!

Being in love and having someone really love her is new for Cillay.

Tony believes she belongs to him! We’ll see that more in later chapters.

  2. YES! They got it out in the open! I hope they can stay on this path without Tony or anything else coming between them. They seem perfect for each other.

  3. *Late comment Alert!* This Tony guy doesn’t seem very nice at all, I can imagine how angry he’ll be seeing his ex all friendly like with Jim. I’ll be reading the following 10 chapters soon!

  4. I loved this! It’s so nice to see them together! But, like Jim, I feel the threat of Tony’s presence around the corner! I really hate that guy!

    Great update! 😀
